Coach Mourinho made a lot of money thanks to being... fired
Jose Mourinho became the coach who received the most compensation for being fired before the deadline...
Despite his illustrious coaching career, strategist Mourinho was fired 6 times - including 2 times by Chelsea, Real Madrid, Man Utd, Tottenham and most recently AS Roma.
In total, these early contract terminations helped him receive compensation of more than 101 million USD - higher than any other colleague who suffered the same fate.
Chelsea had to compensate the leader nicknamed "The Special One" more than 33 million USD. The Stamford Bridge team lost $22.7 million when they fired Mourinho for the first time in 2007 and $10.5 million for the second dismissal in 2015.
The Portuguese military leader received 21.5 million USD when his contract was cut by Real Madrid in 2013.
Mourinho's record for compensation in a single dismissal is $25 million when he was fired from his position as manager of Man Utd in December 2018, just a few months after signing a new two-year contract until summer 2020.
Coach Mourinho led Tottenham for 17 months before being fired before 2 years of contract and received compensation of 19 million USD.
When he was fired by AS Roma on January 16, he only received 3.7 million USD because the contract between the two parties was only valid until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
The total amount of compensation Mourinho received through his dismissals exceeded that of his colleagues, followed by coach Antonio Conte with 47 million USD, including 33 million USD when he was fired early by Chelsea in 2018.
