According to statistics, Italy's Palermo is the club that holds the record for the most coach changes in a season, with a total of 9 times, involving 7 different coaches in Serie A in the 2015/16 season.
Palermo season 2015/16 |
Palermo started the 2015/16 season with experienced coach Giuseppe Iachini on the bench. But after only 6 defeats in the first 10 matches, he lost his job, and made way for Davide Ballardini - who also only sat in the hot seat for exactly 7 matches.
Fabio Viviani was appointed interim coach before Guillermo Schelotto took charge of Parlemo. Not long in office, Schelotto was replaced by Giovanni Tedesco. However, Tedesco only coached Palermo for exactly 3 matches, before moving to Boca Juniors. Giovanni Bosi - who replaced Tedesco, also had his contract terminated quite quickly. Finally, Palermo had to invite back Iachini - the coach who was fired at the beginning of the 2015/16 season.
Iachini lost 2 and drew 1 match, before being fired by Palermo for the third time. His replacement was Walter Novellino, but it did not last long. After 3 defeats and 1 loss, Novellino gave way to "old friend" Ballardini. In the second reunion, Ballardini excelled in helping Palermo successfully stay relegated to Serie A, with 3 wins and 2 draws in the last 6 matches of the season.

Napoli had to change 2 coaches in just 3 months because of their poor performance this season. Despite being the defending Serie A champion, Napoli is ranked 9th on the rankings, 9 points behind Atalanta's 4th place, their ability to reach the top of the Champion League next season is being questioned.
