7 stars could leave Leverkusen in the summer of 2024
Bayer Leverkusen has made a strong impression in the 2023-24 season and it will not be surprising if their stars are sought after in the next summer transfer window.
Coach Xabi Alonso was scared by Granit Xhaka's celebration
Jeremie Frimpong
Frimpong has been in great form for Leverkusen this season, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists in 33 games despite playing at right-back. With a rumored contract release clause of only £34 million, the Dutch international will be sought after this summer. Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Man United are all keen to add the 23-year-old to their squad.
Victor Boniface
Boniface's breakthrough performance in the Bundesliga helped his value skyrocket as well as fall into the sights of Arsenal and Chelsea. The 23-year-old Nigerian scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in Leverkusen's unbeaten campaign. According to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, an offer of about 55 million euros is enough for the Bundesliga top team to accept selling Boniface.
Edmond Tapsoba
According to The Mirror, coach Alonso has identified Tapsoba as the person he will take with him if he leaves Leverkusen. The 25-year-old midfielder is good at defending and does well when he has the ball at his feet. Only Frimpong and Tah have played more than Tapsoba under Alonso's guidance.
Florian Wirtz
Wirtz is one of the outstanding young players in world football today and has developed strongly under the guidance of Xabi Alonso. The 20-year-old has scored 11 goals and provided 18 assists in 36 appearances for Leverkusen this season. Wirtz's ability to dribble, create and shoot is all perfect. Despite interest from Liverpool, Man City and Bayern Munich, there is no guarantee that Wirtz will leave the club this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the German international wants to stay at Leverkusen for another season.
Jonathan Tah
According to HITC, Tah is attracting great interest from West Ham. The German midfielder has started 23 matches under Alonso, even scoring 4 goals. Recently, he impressed when he 'killed' Kylian Mbappé in Germany's international friendly match with France. With both Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, Tah would be a quality, low-cost addition to the Hammers – especially as the defender's contract at the Bay Arena runs out due next year.
Odilon Kossounou
A key cog in Alonso's fine-tuned system, Kossounou has established himself as one of the best and most unique centre-backs in Europe this season. Instead of dropping back in the backline, the Ivory Coast international likes to push forward to coordinate with Leverkusen's attacking players. Both Man United and Tottenham have been linked with the 23-year-old, while Leverksuen are said to be demanding up to €50m for Kossounou.
Piero Hincapie
Another excellent midfielder for Leverkusen. Hincapie is under strong interest from Liverpool as Virgil van Dijk's contract expires in 2025. The Kop are especially eager to add a left-footed defender to their ranks when Joel Matip suffers a long-term injury. After showing his class at Leverkusen and Ecuador, Hincapie won't come cheap - but he's certainly worth the investment.
