Bayern Munich set an unprecedented record in C1
Bayern Munich's historic series in the Champions League group stage continues. The Bundesliga giants came back to beat Copenhagen 2-1 thanks to goals from Jamal Musiala (67") and Mathys Tel (83").
The victory helped Bayern extend its unbeaten streak in the Champions League group stage to 36 matches. The German champions have also won 16 consecutive matches recently and are currently the first team in Champions League history to be unbeaten in 18 away matches in the group stage.
Not stopping there, Thomas Muller has now equaled the record with former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas with 101 wins in the Champions League. Only former Man United and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo (115) has more. With the Portuguese star now playing in Saudi Arabia, it is only a matter of time before Muller breaks that record.
Good news also came to Bayern Munich when their biggest opponent in the group, Manchester United, had to lose to Galatasaray at Old Trafford with a score of 2-3. That opens up for the Allianz Arena home team a wide gate to pass the group stage.
However, coach Tuchel still has a lot of work to do if he wants to win the championship with Bayern Munich. The German team had difficulty against Copenhagen during the first half. If it had been a better opponent, perhaps Tuchel and his students would not have had a chance to turn the game around.
