MU has run out of patience with Anthony Martial
Martial moved to MU from Monaco in 2015 for a fee said to be £38.5 million and could increase to £58 million. However, his career was hindered by too many injuries.
The French striker played quite well last season, after Cristiano Ronaldo's contract was terminated, and the player loaned back in January, Wout Weghorst, played disappointingly.
However, Martial only scored 9 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions, forcing Ten Hag to enter the transfer market in the summer of 2023. Rasmus Hojlund was brought back from Atalanta and is playing quite well.
This makes Martial unhappy as he only plays a reserve role at Man United. And according to Football Insider, MU thinks now is the right time to say goodbye to the French star.
Martial is out of contract at the end of the season and the Red Devils could choose to extend his contract for another 12 months to avoid losing him for free. However, Football Insider believes that Martial could also be sold as soon as next January or summer 2024. Currently, Barcelona is one of the clubs wanting to recruit this striker.
The fact that MU wants to terminate the contract with Martial is also to reduce the salary fund. According to Spotrac, the French striker is currently receiving £250,000/week, ranking fourth on the list of MU's highest-paid players.
