Most valuable players by country: Neymar excluded from top 10, Son Heung-min loses top 1

Football Benchmark has recently revealed the values of the most expensive players by nationality. The results are surprising, with Neymar not even making the Top 10 for Brazil, Harry Kane trailing by 4 teammates, and Son Heung-min not holding the top position for South Korea.

Top 10 great stars who never won the Ballon d'Or

#1 ENGLAND: JUDE BELLINGHAM (€170.5 MILLION)

Jude Bellingham is currently the most expensive English player according to Football Benchmark. The midfielder, who is thriving in his debut season at Real Madrid, is valued at €170.5 million. This figure is not significantly different from Transfermarkt's valuation of €180 million. However, the difference lies in Bellingham ranking 5th in Transfermarkt's list, with players like Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, and Declan Rice above him.

#2 BRAZIL: VINICIUS JUNIOR (€160.7 MILLION)

Vinicius Junior has become the number one superstar for Brazil, being the most expensive player in the country according to both Football Benchmark (€160.7 million) and Transfermarkt (€150 million). The top 5 most expensive Brazilian players are almost identical in both statistics, including Rodrygo, Gabriel Martinelli, Bruno Guimaraes, and Gabriel Jesus. Notably, former Selecao number 1 Neymar has dropped out of the Top 10 after retiring in Saudi Arabia.

#3 ARGENTINA: JULIAN ALVAREZ (€105.1 MILLION)

Another difference between Football Benchmark and Transfermarkt is seen in Argentina. According to the former, Julian Alvarez is currently the most expensive Argentine player with a value of €105.1 million. He is followed by Lautaro Martinez (€96.6 million) and Enzo Fernandez (€95.7 million). Meanwhile, Transfermarkt swaps the positions of Alvarez and Martinez, placing the Inter striker at the top with a value of €110 million. According to Transfermarkt, Lionel Messi ranks 10th with €35 million.

#4 BELGIUM: JEREMY DOKU (€80.3 MILLION)

The "golden generation" of Belgian football, featuring names like Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Thibaut Courtois, is gradually giving way. Currently, the present and future of Belgian football belong to a young wave including Jeremy Doku (21), Lois Openda (23), Amadou Onana (22), and Romeo Lavia (20). Among them, Jeremy Doku is considered the most valuable asset for Belgium. The winger from Manchester City is valued at €80.3 million by Football Benchmark.

#5 FRANCE: KYLIAN MBAPPE (€151.3 MILLION)

It's no surprise that Kylian Mbappe holds the top position for France according to Football Benchmark. The PSG and Les Bleus star is valued at €151.3 million, surpassing compatriots Aurelien Tchouameni (€109.2 million), Eduardo Camavinga (€102.9 million), and William Saliba (€87.1 million). This order is also similar to Transfermarkt, with the only difference being Christopher Nkunku at the 4th position. Despite performing at a high level for Atletico, Antoine Griezmann is absent from the Top 10 due to his age.

#6 GERMANY: JAMAL MUSIALA (€139.8 MILLION)

Similar to Mbappe in France, Jamal Musiala faces no competition in Germany. The young talent from Bayern Munich and the German national team surpasses the rest with a value of up to €139.8 million, according to Football Benchmark. Following Musiala is another 20-year-old player: midfielder Florian Wirtz from the Bundesliga-leading team Bayer Leverkusen. The orchestrator under the management of coach Xabi Alonso is valued at €103.1 million by Football Benchmark. Below this young duo are Kai Havertz (€74.3 million) and Leroy Sane (€73.5 million).

#7 PORTUGAL: RAFAEL LEAO (€104.2 MILLION)

Alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal possesses a host of valuable stars in every position. However, not Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Jota, or Ruben Dias, but rather Rafael Leao is the most expensive player in the small half of the Iberian Peninsula, surprising many. The AC Milan striker is valued at €104.2 million by Football Benchmark. Below the 24-year-old player are Dias (€90.2 million), Goncalo Ramos (€79.4 million), and Bruno Fernandes (€75.6 million).

#8 SPAIN: PEDRI (€119.5 MILLION)

The ranking of the most expensive Spanish players continues to see differences between Football Benchmark and Transfermarkt. Football Benchmark seems to favor young players with a longer "shelf life." This is why they place Pedri in the top position with a value of €119.5 million. The young midfielder from Barcelona is above teammates Gavi (€116.3 million), Rodri (€113.6 million), and Alejandro Balde (€80.4 million). Meanwhile, Transfermarkt's order is Rodri, Gavi, Pedri, and Lamine Yamal.

#9 SOUTH KOREA: KIM MIN-JAE (€65 MILLION)

Son Heung-min is undoubtedly still considered the top star of South Korean football. However, it is surprising that the main striker of Tottenham is not the most expensive player in the land of Kimchi at present. Instead, this position belongs to the center-back Kim Min-jae, valued at €65 million by Football Benchmark. This perspective is also shared by Transfermarkt, as the Bayern Munich defender is priced at €60 million, while Son Heung-min "only" has a value of €50 million.

#10 JAPAN: KAORU MITOMA (€55.7 MILLION)

Japan also boasts a lineup of talented players currently playing in Europe. The "Blue Samurai" are currently present in top leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and the Bundesliga. According to Football Benchmark, the most valuable asset of the Land of the Rising Sun is Kaoru Mitoma, a player valued at €55.7 million. However, according to Transfermarkt, the Brighton winger is only ranked second with a value of €50 million, behind the conductor Take Kubo of Real Sociedad (€60 million).
