Pogba's career is considered to be over after a long-term ban for doping

According to Italian newspaper Repubblica Sport, midfielder Paul Pogba was banned from playing for 4 years due to doping violations, thereby almost ending his career.

What way out for Paul Pogba?

Which club holds the record for the most coach changes in a season?

Pogba has been suspended since September last year after a test by the Italian national anti-doping organization discovered that the 30-year-old midfielder tested positive for testosterone - a hormone that helps increase athletes' endurance, after winning 3-1. 0 of Juventus against Udinese in the opening match of Serie A 2023/24.

The French player pleaded not guilty to the Italian anti-doping agency, claiming that he did not intentionally use banned substances. Pogba's lawyers hope their client will receive a lighter sentence than the four-year ban imposed by the prosecution.

However, the prosecution does not believe in Pogba's defense, and the player has now received a ban from competition as originally proposed. Pogba will turn 31 next March, which means his football career is over.

A four-year ban is the standard level under the World Anti-Doping Code. However, it can be reduced in cases where the athlete can prove that their doping was unintentional, or that the positive test result was due to infection, or if they make a sincere declaration.

"Humanely, I'm sorry for Paul," Juventus coach Max Allegri said in October.

Pogba joined Juventus for free in the summer of 2022 after leaving MU. However, constant injuries caused him to only make 12 appearances for Juventus during his second term at the club, before being caught up in a doping scandal.
