Hazard: "Ronaldo is not better than me"
Eden Hazard admitted that Lionel Messi is the greatest person in history and claimed to be better than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Eden Hazard made an expensive transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid in June 2019 and was given the iconic number 7 shirt by president Florentino Perez. Hazard was then considered the successor to Ronaldo - the greatest striker in the club's history. However, he failed to reach his full potential and fell short of just 7 goals and 12 assists during his time at Los Blancos due to injury.
In his latest interview with L'Equipe, Hazard weighed in on the Messi vs Ronaldo debate, saying: "Individually, Messi is probably the one. I loved watching him when he was at Barcelona, less so now, but he is the greatest in history. Can't take the ball away from him."
"Cristiano Ronaldo is a bigger player than me, but in terms of pure football, I honestly don't think so. At first many people thought it was Neymar, then he was no better than me. But at Real, you have the best, both in terms of their careers: Benzema, Modric, they are the best, Kroos... they all exude pure football."
