UEFA Champions League 2024/25: how will the competition format change?
FIFA has confirmed that the 2025 Club World Cup will take place in the US. The tournament will have 12 teams from Europe, 6 teams from South America, 4 teams from each region CONCACAF (North and Central America), CAF (Africa), AFC (Asia), 1 team from OFC (Oceania), 1 team was selected from America to compete.

FIFA will eliminate the current format after 2023 and the new version of the Club World Cup will be held every 4 years (in odd-numbered years) instead of annually as currently. And just like the World Cups at the national team level, only two teams can make it to the knock-out round.
In 2025, the tournament will be held in a 32-team format for the first time. 12 of the 32 teams will be from Europe, with the 2021-24 UEFA Champions League winners all qualifying for the tournament. That means Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City and the 2024 champions, along with eight other European teams based on club rankings, will play in the US.

There are six teams that will be from CONMEBOL (South America), with the Copa Libertadores winners from 2021-24 and two others based on club rankings over a four-year period.
There are 4 clubs from CONCACAF as winners of CONCACAF (North and Central America) Champions League 2021-24 that will qualify, while 4 teams that will be from CAF (Africa) will be 4 champions CAF Champions League champion from 2021-24. There will be 4 teams that will come from AFC (Asia) as the winners of the AFC Champions League 2021-24.
One club from OFC (Oceania) will qualify and it will be the highest-ranked team among the OFC Champions League winners from 2021-24. The final position will be awarded to the home team, USA, and how that team will be selected will be determined at a later stage according to FIFA.
