Worst lineup of Champions League week: MU contributed 2 players
Goalkeeper Andre Onana and defender Diogo Dalot were ranked by statistical firm Sofascore as the worst team in the second match of the Champions League group stage.
In the worst lineup, Onana scored 5.9 points, and Dalot scored 6.1 points. This duo both made mistakes in the 2-3 loss to Galatasaray at Old Trafford on October 4.
Dalot loosely and superficially clung to Wilfried Zaha, allowing the former Man Utd player to score against his old team in the first half. In the second half, goalkeeper Onana passed the ball straight to Dries Mertens' feet, causing Casemiro to commit a foul in the penalty area and receive a second yellow card to leave the field. Even though they escaped the penalty kick afterward, Man Utd, in a low-man position, still failed because of Mauro Icardi's late goal.
Similar to Man Utd, PSG also contributed two people. The defending champions of France had midfielders Marquinhos and Milan Skriniar scored 5.8 and 5.9 points respectively, in the 1-4 loss to Newcastle. Prominent names that play poorly in attack are Samuel Chukwueze (AC Milan, 6 points) and Lautaro Martinez (Inter, 5.9 points).
Sofascore also elected the best Champions League squad last week. This lineup caused a lot of controversy, with Davinson Sanchez (Galatasaray) receiving 8 points despite also making mistakes. The former Tottenham midfielder slipped and let Rasmus Hojlund pass in the second goal of the Turkish representative at Old Trafford. Napoli's Leo Skiri Ostigard also contributed, contributing a goal in the 2-3 loss to Real.
The best player of the week is Real's Jude Bellingham with 9.1 points, contributing one goal and one assist at Napoli. Phil Foden (Man City) and Danylo Sikan (Shakhtar Donetsk) both scored 8.8 points, while Nicolo Barella got 8.5 points.
The Champions League will return on October 24, with the third group stage match. Notable matches are Man Utd vs Copenhagen in Group A and PSG - AC Milan, Newcastle - Dortmund in Group F.
